A Thousand Oaks division of London-based Smiths Group plans to combine four existing businesses within the Smiths Interconnect Wireless Technologies Group under a single business branded Kaelus, the company announced. The four businesses under Smiths Interconnect that will be included in the new branding are Summitek Instruments, Allrizon Communications, Triasx Pty Ltd and the telecom division of TRAK Microwave Ltd. The new business designs and manufactures a wide range of radio frequency and microwave products for the wireless communications sector, such as specialized filters, combiners, tower mounted amplifiers and others. “This new structure allows us to maximize our value to customers,” said Jacqui McLaughlin, president of Kaelus. “The new Kaelus brand represents a unified business able to more efficiently deliver a wide range of RF (radio frequency) and microwave products and test solutions to network operators and wireless OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) worldwide.” The name Kaelus comes from the Latin word “caelum,” which means “sky.” Jessica Vernabe
