A former executive with ABC Studios has been named as the new president of The CW, the network co-owned by Warner Bros. Entertainment and CBS. Mark Pedowitz will replace Dawn Ostroff who has headed up the network since its founding in January 2006 following the merger of UPN and The WB. Pedowitz brings a strong background in program development, production and business affairs. He was president of ABC Studios and most recently headed up Pine Street Entertainment, on the Warner Bros. Studios Burbank lot. “The network has built a strong foundation and powerful identity in its first five years, and I’m looking forward to helping elevate it to even greater success in the future,” Pedowitz said. At ABC Studios, Pedowitz oversaw such hit series as “Lost,” “Desperate Housewives,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” At Pine Street, Pedowitz was an executive producer on ther pilot “Meet Jane” in association with Warner Horizon Television.
