Macy’s will open this fall in the Antelope Valley Mall, occupying the space of the vacant Gottschalks. The store will employ about130 people and offer apparel and accessories for men, women and children, as well as housewares, luggage and home textiles. The store will be Macy’s first in the Antelope Valley and will tailor its offerings to meet the needs of the customers living there, said Ron Klein, Macy’s chief stores officer. “We expect to be active members of the community,” Klein said. Gottschalks closed all its stores in California and other Western states after filing for bankruptcy in 2009. The Palmdale store was one of four anchors at the mall. Mark R. Madler
