The Los Angeles City Council unanimously voted to support the Los Angeles County Strategic Plan for Economic Development, the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation announced. The council also agreed to direct the city’s chief legislative analyst and other city departments to report back on an implementation and tracking strategy for incorporating the plan’s recommendations that benefit the city. The plan includes 12 objectives and 52 strategies to achieve five core economy-strengthening goals for the county residents and communities. The goals include preparing of an educated workforce, creating a business-friendly environment, enhancing quality of life, implementing smart land use policies and creating a 21st-Century infrastructure. The plan was led by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation and unanimously adopted by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in Decemner. The year-long public project brought together more than 1,000 stakeholders from business, government, labor, education, environmental and other community-based organizations to create a consensus. “With more than 250,000 residents of the City of L.A. currently out of work, the Council’s unanimous support is an affirmation of the importance and timeliness of this Strategic Plan,” said Bill Allen, the economic development group’s president and CEO. “We look forward to working with the relevant City departments to implement the strategies contained in the Plan.” Jessica Selva
