More Than 180 Veterans Attend Job Fair

The California Employment Development Department hosted its “Honor a Hero, Hire a Vet” job fair in Canoga Park on Thursday aimed at helping Valley-area military veterans find jobs with local employers. More than 180 veterans attended the event at the America’s Job Center of California to meet with 56 employers and resource agencies. “The (Employment Development Department ) is committed to helping the men and women who served in the military find high-quality civilian jobs,” said EDD Director Patrick W. Henning in statement. “The Honor a Hero, Hire a Vet job and resource fairs allow veterans to meet one-on-one with employers and job service representatives to showcase the skills, training, and experience they bring to the workforce.” The fair was part of an effort spearheaded by Gov. Jerry Brown to help veterans from across the state transition back to civilian life. Over the past 10 years, the EDD says it has linked 37,000 veteran job seekers with employers and recourse agencies in California.
