IPC The Hospitalist Company Inc. has acquired a Colorado-based company that provides geriatric care services, the North Hollywood-based hospitalist physician group practice company announced. The acquired company, Senior Care of Colorado, PC, provides geriatric care at more than 200 facilities in the Denver metro area and has an annualized volume of more than 200,000 patient encounters. The deal expands IPC’s operations in Colorado, where it has been providing acute care hospitalist services since 2003. “The acquisition of SCOC represents continued expansion for IPC into the long-term care arena, providing IPC with the opportunity to further improve the management and coordination of care for seniors that move between different types of facilities as their condition warrants,” said Dr. Adam Singer, the company’s chairman and CEO. “Working in concert with IPC’s acute care hospitalist practices, we believe the providers at SCOC will be able to deliver an improved and more comprehensive care experience for patients and their families.” Senior Care of Colorado’s co-founders, Dr. Michael Wasserman and Dr. Don Murphy, will both continue to practice at IPC. Murphy will serve as the practice group leader for geriatric care. Jessica Vernabe
