Health Net Named Among Friendliest Employers for Military Spouses

Health Net Inc. has been named among the top 10 Most Military Spouse Friendly Employers by Military Spouse magazine, the Woodland-Hills based insurer announced. The company ranked ninth out of nearly 2,500 companies considered for the honor, each with annual revenues of more than $1 billion. The honorees were chosen based on company policies for spouses who are married to members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including Guard and Reserve. They were also chosen based on their hiring policies and practices for military spouses. Health Net allocates about 15 percent of its recruiting resources toward military spouses. The company is also, for the third year in a row, awarding funds through its scholarship program for select military spouses pursuing their educations. The program was established through the National Military Family Association. “Spouses of active duty service members are invaluable to our organization with their understanding, sense of pride and loyalty in serving their families who serve our country as do theirs,” said Karin Mayhew, Health Net’s senior vice president of organization effectiveness. The company, through its subsidiary Health Net Federal Services, LLC, provides managed health care programs for government agencies, including the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
