Gatto and Ramani Move On to Run Off

Democrat Mike Gatto and Republican Sunder Ramani have both gathered enough votes in the primary for the 43rd District Assembly seat formerly held by Paul Krekorian to move on to a run-off. Gatto, an attorney, garnered 32.34 percent of the vote, while Ramani ran unopposed on the Republican ticket. Since there was no majority, as the leading candidates from each political party Gatto and Ramani will run against each other in the June 8 election. Democrat Nayiri Nahabedian, who had been endorsed by Krekorian for the position, took about 22 percent of the vote while Chahe Keuroghelian took about 14 percent of the vote. Sherriff Lee Baca endorsed Gatto, who used to serve as an aide Rep. Brad Sherman. The National Federation of Independent Business Owners and the California Small Business Association endorsed Ramani, a construction company owner and small business consultant. Krekorian was elected to the Los Angeles City Council in January. The 43rd Assembly District encompasses Burbank, most of Glendale and North Hollywood. Emily Pauker
