Early Returns Show Victory for Weste and McLean

Santa Clarita City Council incumbents Marsha McLean and Laurene Weste received the most votes in the April 13 election according to preliminary results. Current council member Frank Ferry, meanwhile, was holding a slight lead over challenger David Gauny. Business owner McLean received 17.3 percent of the vote, while 17 percent of the vote went to Weste, who is currently serving as mayor. Ferry, a high school principal, led the polls by 79 votes (0.2 percent) over Gauny, principal and managing broker at Smart Money, who received 16.3 percent of the vote. Challenger TimBen Boydston, Executive Director of the Canyon Theatre Guild, received 14.8 percent of the vote. Bob Kellar and Laurie Ender will continue as City Council members, as their four-year terms are not yet up for reelection. Emily Pauker
