Surround sound technologies developed by DTS Inc. will be used in digital media players developed by French telecommunications company Free following an agreement being reached by the two companies. The Free devices will launch in January 2011 into the French market and will include DTS Digital Surround processing. “As the convergence of broadcast and telecom evolves, DTS is continuing to expand its footprint in this growing ecosystem by delivering the finest audio experience possible – across all delivery platforms,” said Brian Towne, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at DTS. The use of DTS technology into Free products is the latest milestone in the growth of Calabasas-based DTS. The developer of surround sound audio and other related technology, recently announced a separate deal with PC maker Lenovo. Through the agreement, DTS will include its technology in Lenovo’s new digital home products which are launching in China in 2011.
