California State University, Northridge was one of 24 colleges and universities to receive cash awards for select real estate students from the International Council of Shopping Centers Foundation, the New York-based foundation announced. As part of the 2011 Undergraduate Real Estate Award, each university or college receives $1,000 to be given to a junior or senior enrolled in its undergraduate real estate program. Students are chosen by the programs’ deans. The selections are based on students’ dedication to a career in retail real estate, as demonstrated by their overall academic and extracurricular involvement. Each award recipient will also receive a free ICSC student membership for one year. Each university was selected based on an overall rating that included the number of ICSC student members, academic ranking, strength of its real estate program, industry involvement, faculty investment, real estate clubs and ICSC conference participation.
