The San Fernando Valley Council of Governments has recruited the director of the Valley Economic Alliance’s Mulholland Institute as the joint-powers agency’s executive director. Bob Scott has served as the facilitator for the council of governments during its recent formation and was also instrumental in planning the Southern California Association of Government’s San Fernando Valley sub-region. The council of governments released a request for proposals for the position in August. The part-time, turn-key position is facilitated through a contract with the Valley Economic Alliance, is subcontracting Scott for the role. “It’s been a long time coming, and we’re looking forward to actually hunkering down and getting to work that actually needs attention in the area,” Scott said. “Some of the first things we’re going to be working on is transportation and housing.” While Scott has been working in the role since March 1, he did not officially obtain the role of executive director until the council of governments’ board members voted him in on April 14. The council of governments was formed in July and is led by city council members and county supervisors from the jurisdictions of Burbank, Glendale, San Fernando, Santa Clarita, Los Angeles County and the seven Los Angeles city council districts serving the San Fernando Valley. The agency aims to promote cooperation and regional thinking in the San Fernando-Santa Clarita Valley region. Part of the role group’s role is to oversee the planning within the San Fernando Valley sub-region for the Southern California Association of Governments. Jessica Vernabe
