College of the Canyons is offering accelerated workforce training programs for job seekers through its new Fast Track Institute. The institute, which begins offering classes in mid-November, has training programs geared toward mid-career professionals, recent high school graduates and community members looking for a competitive edge into several industries. The courses offered will prepare job seekers for positions that often go unfilled because of a lack available candidates with the proper preparation, said Dena Maloney, the college’s vice president of economic development. Eighteen initial programs have been identified for inclusion into the Fast Track Institute’s first round of offerings. The programs will be divided into four general industry areas: manufacturing, green technology, medical/general office and managerial/professional. Jessica Vernabe
