City Agency to Study East Valley Transportation Woes

The Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles received a $250,000 state grant for a study to improve transportation in mixed residential and industrial area in Pacoima and Panorama City. The redevelopment agency will also contribute funding for the study bringing the total cost to $492,800. The grant money allows the redevelopment agency to make smarter land-use decisions, said Chief Executive Officer Christine Essel. The area along Branford Street between the Golden State (5) Freeway and Glenoaks Boulevard was chosen for a study because of the low-income housing being adjacent to industrial properties. The transportation system was not designed for the intense traffic and safety and circulation problem arising from side-by-side residential and industrial development, the agency said. Mark R.
