The MRV products support Santa Monica City Net, a fiber optic network that extends throughout the downtown area and covers the majority of multiple tenant commercial buildings – part of a city initiative to support an environment for local businesses to compete in the global economy with cutting edge network solutions. Local business can access this network directly through Internet Service Providers that service Santa Monica. Santa Monica City Net is based on MRV’s Lambda Driver wavelength-division multiplexing optical transport system, as well as MRV’s network demarcation and network management products, which essentially allow Santa Monica to connect local businesses to over 160 Internet Service Providers that were able to offer affordable broadband solutions to an expanded market.
