Microturbines made by Capstone Turbine Corp. will be used to power processing facilities and metering stations at an oil and natural gas reserve in south Texas. Capstone distributor Pumps & Services sold the 18 low-emission microturbines to a large independent oil and natural gas company in the Eagle Ford shale reserve. The Chatsworth-based company anticipates this market will grow so as to meet strict requirements by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to reduce emissions levels at natural gas sites. “Many of these sites are extremely remote and unmanned, which means 24×7 distributed power is paramount,” said Capstone Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Jim Crouse.
