Raising Awareness About Breast Cancer and Women’s Health

Each and every day, women everywhere take on a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities juggling between the needs and priorities of their families, friends and work. Even more so, mothers have the added duty of caring for their children and providing them with the tools and resources they need to stay healthy and productive. Yet often times, the time spent caring for others leads to a costly sacrifice – women’s own health needs take a backseat, as many delay their important doctor appointments and annual checkups.

Recognized during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month serves as a time to share vital education about the secondmost common cancer among women in the United States, reminding us all of the sanctity of life. At Dignity Health – Northridge Hospital Medical Center (NHMC), situated in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, a remarkable team of healthcare professionals work tirelessly to care for those who put others first. The state-of-the-art Leavey Cancer Center and Carole Pump Women’s Center at NHMC have an abundance of resources and services as it pertains to women’s health and breast cancer.

NHMC has taken the lead as the first and only facility in the San Fernando Valley to offer two of the most cutting-edge types of medical equipment available – the da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgery System and Trilogy Stereotactic Radiation Therapy.

These treatments result in faster, more precise diagnoses, shorter hospital stays and quick recoveries.

Scheduling a mammogram or annual check-up is a critical way to ensure you take charge of your own health. It’s time you made yourself and your health needs a top priority.
