Salem Media Group on Thursday announced that Val Carolin will replace Joey Hudson as general manager of the company’s Greenville, S.C. radio market. Hudson is leaving the post to assume a new role as general manager of Salem Radio Network’s “The Mike Gallagher Show.” Carolin joins the company from Atlanta, where he spent more than 20 years in the city’s radio market. He most recently served as general sales manager at Cumulus Media Inc.; his previous experience includes senior-level positions at Radio One, iHeartMedia’s Clear Channel Radio and CBS Radio. “Val’s deep experience in all levels of media … positions him well to lead our growing Greenville cluster,” Allen Power, senior vice president of broadcast operations for Salem’s Greenville market, said in a statement. “This expertise combined with his excitement for the Upstate is a winning combination as our next general manager.” Salem, headquartered in Camarillo, owns and operates more than 118 radio stations, including 73 in top 25 media markets. The company is the country’s largest commercial radio broadcaster of Christian and conservative content. Shares of Salem (SALM) closed Thursday down 35 cents, or 3.4 percent, to $7.10 on the Nasdaq.
