Paramount to Use DTS Audio on Blu-ray Releases

Audio technology developer DTS Inc. entered into an agreement with Paramount Home Media Distribution to make DTS: X available on select Blu-ray discs, it was announced Tuesday. The Calabasas company will employ DTS:X for the home releases of “Daddy’s Home,” “The Big Short,” “Zoolander 2” and “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.” DTS:X is a multi-dimensional audio technology that works with home theaters by adapting a speaker layout best suited for the space and providing audio in front of, behind, above and beside the audience. Edward Hoxsie, senior vice president of worldwide product production and fulfillment at Paramount Pictures, in Hollywood, said the use of DTS:X improves the entertainment experience for audiences at home. “Working with DTS, a leading contributor in sound innovation, allows us to deliver a great consumer experience with audio technology that enables the immersive audio our feature content deserves,” Hoxsie said in a prepared statement.
