Semtech Wins Award

Semtech Corp. has been given the 2022 Global Company of the Year Award for its Internet-of-Things hardware by Frost & Sullivan.

The Camarillo-based semiconductor and Internet-of-Things (IoT) products manufacturer was recognized by the San Antonio, Texas-based consulting and market research firm for its innovative products and technologies and the resulting leadership in terms of customer value and market penetration, according to a release from the company.

Semtech technology lets its customers connect end nodes and low-power wide area networks (LPWAN) remotely for IoT products through its long-range, low-power, or LoRa, hardware. The company’s devices support the development of massive IoT use cases in various industries, including residential real estate, agriculture and logistics.

Cecilia Perez, a best-practices research analyst with Frost & Sullivan, said that Semtech’s technology integrates LoRa’s low-power features with cellular bandwidth to allow developers to build smart products.

“Continuous efforts to support the rapid growth of LoRa position Semtech as a preferred hardware provider in the IoT space,” Perez said in a statement.

With the capabilities of performance, capacity and connectivity, Semtech’s technologies are gaining mass adoption rates, reaching over 5 million gateways in service and 270 million endpoints deployed worldwide, as of September 2022, the company’s release said.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents its Company of the Year award to the organization that demonstrates excellence in terms of growth strategy and implementation in its field, the Semtech release added.
