Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley has renamed its main clubhouse in honor of late donor and executive Gary Thomas. A senior vice president at political ad agency Aaron Thomas & Associates in Chatsworth, he served as chairman of the Boys & Girls Club for nine years. Thomas, who died last year, was given the Fernando Award in 2011. The renaming ceremony for the Gary M. Thomas Clubhouse in Canoga Park was attended by L.A. City Councilman Bob Blumenfield, club board member Martin Cooper and his brother Fred Thomas. … Public Storage has hired David Lee as chief operating officer. Lee previously was senior vice president of operations at UPS Store, where he managed 5,200 retail locations. “The company is transforming its operating model as it pioneers end-to-end digitization across the self-storage customer journey,” Lee said in a statement, referring to Public Storage. “I am honored to work alongside leaders throughout the company as we further innovate and advance our operating strategies to meet an ever-growing customer base.” … Monica Schmidt has joined Stephen Davis’ team with the Davis Group at UBS Financial Services in Westlake Village. Schmidt, who previously worked at JP Morgan, is a senior wealth strategist associate at the financial advisory firm. … Ninjio, a cybersecurity awareness training company in Westlake Village, has appointed Janet Schijns to its board. Schijns is chief executive of consulting firm JS Group, which creates market strategies for technology firms. Previously, she worked in executive positions at Verizon, Motorola and Office Depot. “Her experience of helping grow companies of a similar profile to ours will prove invaluable to our scaling objectives, Ninjio Chief Executive Zack Schuler said in a statement. … Sensor Industries in Camarillo has appointed Cara Aley as its chief operating officer. She previously served with the same job title at three companies: e-commerce site PartsMarket and digital communications firm PeachJar. Additionally, she led global HR operations for fintech firm Tipalti. In conjunction with Aley’s hiring, Sensor’s former chief operating office Neil Lassila has assumed the title of chief product officer.
