Time Out Expands To L.A.

San Fernando Valley residents ready for a time out now can turn to a new website for information on entertainment, arts, culture and culinary events. Global media company Time Out Group this month launched the site, which enables users to search for events as well as purchase tickets, make reservations and receive exclusive offers. Time Out Group publishes city magazines and operates websites in 37 cities across 25 countries. Los Angeles is among the newest cities added to the company’s portfolio. The Time Out website will be of use to both residents and visitors, said Editor Lisa Sweetingham. “We want to inspire Angelenos to make that commitment to get out and go see and do interesting things, while also helping them to plan their days and nights around those events with lists of great places to eat, drink and shop nearby,” Sweetingham said in a prepared statement. A Time Out Los Angeles iPhone app is set to launch this month, offering users details about events, reviews and maps. Apps for Android and iPad will follow. The Los Angeles site and apps is part of Time Out Group’s strategy to advance as a worldwide digital media group. “We will continue to scale in digital, from improving the overall online experience to deepening the types of offers that we provide and hiring great talent to develop them,” said CEO Aksel van der Wal, in a prepared statement. – Mark R.
