THQ Extends Agreement to Release “Warhammer 40,000” Games

THQ Inc will continue to release games in the popular “Warhammer 40,000” franchise after extending a licensing agreement with game owner Games Workshop. Agoura Hills-based THQ is currently developing two new “Warhammer 40,000” titles to join those the company has already released for game consoles and PCs. “Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War,” for instance, has shipped 6.5 million units since its release. Extending the licensing agreement ensures that the “Warhammer 40,000” franchise will remain a strong and growing presence in the video game space, said Games Workshop CEO Mark Wells. “Our envisioning of the Warhammer 40,000 universe will continue to grow with top quality games across all platforms,” added THQ President and CEO Brian Farrell.
