Indian Firm Buys Natrol for $80 Million

Plethico Pharmaceuticals Limited of India has acquired Natrol, Inc., the Chatsworth-based manufacturer and marketer nutritional products in a deal worth $80.8 million. The transaction was approved by Plethico and the board of directors of Natrol, and announced Sunday. Wayne M. Bos, president and CEO of Natrol, said, “We have gained a solid reputation in our market niches and believe the merger with Plethico will also be a win-win for our customers and employees.” Natrol makes and markets health and wellness brands representing nutritional supplements, herbal teas, and sports nutrition products. The firm was established in 1980. The company distributes products nationally through more than 54,000 retailers, as well as internationally in over 40 other countries through distribution partners and subsidiaries in the UK and Hong Kong.
