Semtech Corp. unveiled an advanced version of its wireless charging product that can charge multiple mobile devices at the same time with just a single transmitter. The Camarillo company debuted the improved LinkCharge charging platform on Tuesday at Mobile World Congress, a trade show for the mobile device industry in Barcelona. LinkCharge can be used with headphones, hearing aids, electric toothbrushes, low-power industrial applications and low-power portable medical devices. Ruwanga Dassanayake, power management product line manager for Semtech’s Power and High-Reliability Products Group, said the improved product brings flexibility and convenience to consumers. “We recognized the need for a wireless charging technology that supports charging multiple devices at once, as consumers and retailers begin to expand their collections of wireless charging-equipped wearables, portable electronics and other low-power applications,” Dassanayake said in a prepared statement. Shares of Semtech closed up 60 cents, or 1.8 percent, to $34.05 on the Nasdaq.
