Warner Center Designated Transportation Innovation Zone

Warner Center has been designed as the first Transportation Technology Innovation Zone in Los Angeles where innovators can test transportation technology projects.L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti said that the city takes pride in serving as a testing ground for mobility solutions. Garcetti worked with City Council member Bob Blumenfield to create the zone designation in Woodland Hills. The first pilot project to launch this year is a zero-emissions, last-mile delivery service that connects individuals homebound by the coronavirus pandemic to food from local businesses.A second pilot project, to launch in the spring, will create mini-mobility hubs throughout the Warner Center campus.“The first-ever Transportation Technology Innovation Zone will unite local businesses, workers and inventors around how to revolutionize mobility in the West Valley, and it will serve as a model for what’s possible as more zones come online in areas across Los Angeles,” Garcetti said in a statement.“There's no place in L.A. as perfect as the Warner Center to test innovative transportation technology,” Blumenfield said in a statement. “I am proud the Warner Center will be the City's first Transportation Technology Innovation Zone and I hope our exciting transportation pilot programs will help lay the blueprints for this city's green, transit-friendly future.”The Transportation Technology Innovation Zone is one of the flagship programs of Urban Movement Labs, the transportation solutions accelerator launched by Garcetti in November of last year.
