The Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce wants to reward people for shopping local.The chamber announced this week the “Shop Simi Valley First Fa La La La Local” campaign, which aims to inject extra cash flow into the local economy.Anyone who gets a receipt from a business located in Simi Valley from Nov. 21 to Dec. 6 is eligible to receive redeemable tickets that act as gift certificates to Simi Valley businesses of their choice. The maximum reward is $1,000.To participate, shoppers must turn in their accumulated paper receipts to the chamber’s office on Dec. 6 or Dec. 7. Entrants will receive gift certificates based on the amount of money spent during the dates of the sweepstakes, as reflected by their receipts. Participants will also be entered into a pool to win several promotional prizes, which the chamber has not yet revealed. There is a limit of one prize per entrant.Winners will be announced Dec. 9.The chamber’s website explains local small businesses need support from consumers now more than ever.“The effort of all of us shopping locally makes a big difference. … Our Simi Valley businesses pay property tax, pay for our schools and donate to and provide support for local nonprofits, events and teams.
