Valencia’s Six Flags Magic Mountain will cease its vaccine operations on April 18, Los Angeles County said, to be replaced by College of the Canyons and Palmdale Oasis Park Recreation Center the following day.The theme park site started administering vaccines in January — approximately 129,000 vaccine shots were given to date. It’s one of five mass vaccination locations in the county, the others being California State University – Northridge, Pomona Fairplex, The Forum in Inglewood, and L.A. County Office of Education in Downey. The new sites in Santa Clarita and Palmdale will each be able to administer up to 2,000 vaccinations per day, serving residents from Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys. That matches Magic Mountain’s 4,000-shot-per-day capacity.“I am incredibly grateful to Magic Mountain for their generosity and critical partnership as we provided the vaccine to thousands of residents at their mass vaccine distribution site,” L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger said in a statement.“The partnership with Six Flags Magic Mountain has proven invaluable to the county’s vaccination efforts, as the site provided vaccine to so many residents living in our hardest-hit communities,” Dr. Barbara Ferrer, L.A. County Public Health Director, said in a statement.
