Matthew Swearman knows about collector cars since he has four classics from the 1950s, ’60s and ’80s.  But when he arranged a private car show one recent Saturday at Valley Village, where he is development director, he was out of his comfort zone when a local car club showed up with “drift” cars – ones that are small, high-revving and much newer than he’s accustomed to. As it turned out, several guys in the car group have family members with developmental challenges – the very same kinds of folks who are cared for at Valley Village in Winnetka. “So they understand the nature of our work and why we exist,” Swearman said. And he added that they quickly found another important commonality. They may have different kinds of cars, but “at the end of the day, we all love our rides.” …American Business Bank has promoted Jeff Munson to executive vice president in the San Fernando Valley regional office. Matt Dusig, George Llorens and Gregg Lavin, co-founders of the market research firm, as well as President Michael Anderson, will now serve on the firm’s board. … Cavitation Technologies has added Gerald Bailey to its board. He is the former president of Exxon and currently is chairman of consulting firm Bailey Petroleum. Cavitation in Chatsworth makes flow-through devices for refining edible oil and renewable fuels as well as water treatment and alcoholic beverage manufacturing. … As the new chief people and diversity officer at Farmers Insurance, Mark David Welch will lead the HR team and the insurer’s strategies related to people, culture and corporate structure, including efforts for diversity. Previously, Welch worked 22 years at Northern Trust, most recently as chief human resources officer for the North America region. In a statement, Welch said he looked forward “to continue to build on the clear focus of executing the organization’s strategy, being an employer of choice, and fostering a deep culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.”
