Chili Raises Money for Homeless

Five restaurants in the Santa Clarita Valley have partnered with Bridge to Home for their 2021 Cowboy Chili Cookout, in support of the nonprofit’s mission to help the homelessness.The cookout, to be held virtually again this year on May 12 due to ongoing coronavirus concerns, is traditionally part of the annual Cowboy Festival in Santa Clarita. It typically includes a competition of local amateur and professional chili recipes. This year’s lineup instead includes custom menus from Egg Plantation and Old Town Junction in Santa Clarita as well as Salt Creek Grille, Marston’s and Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Co. in Valencia.

Each $100 dinner for four must be pre-ordered through the Bridge to Home website and includes specialty chili offerings with toppings, sides and pairings of cocktails, wine or beer. Meals can be picked up or donated to families in need with all proceeds going to Bridge to Home. SCVTV will produce a Western-themed show to be streamed on the public access channel as well as YouTube and Facebook.“This is a crucial time for Bridge to Home, as we are in the middle of our capital campaign for a permanent shelter facility in the Santa Clarita Valley,” Executive Director Michael Foley said in a statement. “This event will help fund the resources, services and shelter that assist the most vulnerable members of our community. We are finally at a point where our shelter project is on the cusp of becoming a reality. Now more than ever we need the community’s support to help us on the home stretch.” “The Bridge to Home Cowboy Chili Cookout is a delicious way to support this important cause,” Board President Tracey Carpentier said in the statement. “This is your opportunity to enjoy a chili dinner and watch an exciting, entertaining and local program which will highlight our community’s rich, western roots. We partnered with SCVTV to bring you this program which will showcase the work Bridge to Home is doing, and also immerse you in music, storytelling, movie history and even tips to cook up your own chili dinner at home.”
