The city of Simi Valley has introduced the Economic Development Business Newsletter this month.

The digital newsletter will provide local businesses with updates on important city programs, economic data and information related to navigating the COVID-19 crisis.

Assistant City Manager Linda Swan, who with Management Analyst Kelly Tinker puts out the newsletter, told the Business Journal that the electronic flyer will be issued on a monthly basis and will later scale down to a quarterly schedule once the COVID-19 crisis has receded.

“This is our newsletter to keep business owners up-to-date on economic issues and to provide them with resources to assist them,” Swan said, especially during the COVID-19 crisis.

She stressed that the newsletter is available to members of the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce, but also the larger professional community.

“It’s aimed at all Simi Valley businesses,” Swan said.

The newsletter officially launched March 12. The first edition included links regarding vaccine appointments and risk-level tier status in Ventura County. Data boxes featured the average case rate and daily tests in Ventura County and other COVID-related statistics. Another newsletter announcement provided information on Ventura County’s $20 million COVID-19 Business Assistance Grant program.
