A subsidiary of Tutor Perini Corp. has secured a contract with the Missouri Department of Transportation to design and construct the new interstate 70 Missouri River bridge.

Lunda Construction Co. in Black River Falls, Wisc. will lead the design team that also includes Parson Corp. in Centreville, Va., Dan Brown & Associates in Sequatchie, Tenn. and HZ United in Plymouth, Minn.

Lunda is owned by Tutor Perini, the Sylmar construction and engineering services firm.

The bridge project near Rocheport, Mo. consists of design and construction of two Missouri River spans, one in each direction with three lanes each. The construction will take place with a limited impact to traffic. Lunda will also replace the County Road BB bridge over I-70, according to a release from Tutor Perini.

Construction is scheduled to begin later this year with a completion expected by the end of 2024. The construction budget for the project is $220 million, according to Tutor Perini.

Shares of Tutor (TPC) closed Monday up 20 cents, or 1.5 percent, to $13.39 on the New York Stock Exchange, on a day when the Dow Jones closed up a fraction of a percent.
