A Convenient Way to Pay Indie Drivers

Loadchief, a company that created an app to connect delivery companies with independent drivers to provide contract delivery services, has partnered with Velo Payments Inc.

to offer a payment service to compensate the drivers.

Terms of the deal between Loadchief in Santa Clarita and Velo Payments in Sausalito were not disclosed.

The startup’s app makes it easier for both delivery companies and drivers to connect, to schedule their day and to get paid.

Working with Velo, Loadchief customers will be able to utilize a broad range of payment options, as well as the needs of the drivers, the companies said in a release.

Loadchief President JC Burnett said that delivery companies increasingly rely on independent contractors but have been limited in options of how and when to pay them.

“This partnership provides a new level of flexibility and will allow even more companies to enjoy the Loadchief Advantage of professional independent drivers for routed and on-demand work,” Burnett said in a statement.

John Partridge, chief executive of Velo Payments, said the company is thrilled to facilitate payments to drivers.

“Velo was built to make payments effortless, and we are looking forward to reshaping how courier companies source and pay independent contractors,” Partridge said in a statement.

Velo provides a payments orchestration platform that automates payouts from businesses to their vendors and independent workforces.

Loadchief is owned by Independent Contractors Network Inc.

in Santa Clarita.
