Vntana Looks to Open 3D Tech for Marketers

Vntana, a 3D content management software company, announced recently that it had received an undisclosed amount of money in its latest funding round.

The Van Nuys company received money in the oversubscribed financing round from noted entrepreneur Mark Cuban; Brendan Iribe, a co-founder of Oculus VR Inc.; Anorak Ventures in San Francisco; Chloe Capital in New York; and Mana Ventures, also in San Francisco.

With this raise, Vntana will continue its advancement of the production, sharing and management of 3D models and augmented reality, the company said in a release.

Ashley Crowder, chief executive of the company, said that it was thrilling to work with such notable investors.

“From working with Mark Cuban to female-led Chloe Capital, we are in fantastic company with a team that has deep experience in gaming and e-commerce,” Crowder said in a statement. “These new investments also provide us with a strong foundation from which we can more aggressively execute on a number of new industry partnerships that offer us new channels to connect with brands who are looking to add 3D and AR (augmented reality) to their e-commerce and advertising mix.”

Greg Castle, managing partner at Anorak Ventures, said that as the world shifts to 3D, the need for specialized software to ingest, store, organize, render and collaborate represents an enormous opportunity.

“Vntana has created the most robust system to solve these problems and I’m incredibly excited to support them on their journey,” Castle said in a statement.

Crowder founded Vntana – based on the Spanish word “ventana,” or window – in 2012 with business partner and fellow USC alum Ben Conway. They raised funding from private investors in Los Angeles, New York and China to get the company going.

It developed its proprietary technology to give brands a way to better market themselves by using 3D and AR. Just like Vimeo and YouTube made it easy to share and embed video, Vntana serves brands in the fashion, footwear, furniture and tools sectors so they can share and embed 3D and AR for sales and marketing use, the company said in its release.

Brands that use Vntana include Deckers Outdoor Corp. in Goleta, Adidas AG in Germany and Hugo Boss AG, also in Germany.

The company recently signed partnerships with PTC, a Boston software developer for manufacturers, and Joor, a developer of wholesale management software in New York.

With these partnerships, Vntana will offer its suite of products, including 3D content management software, 3D e-commerce and 3D optimization, making 3D and AR assets accessible and manageable for a variety of retailers within their existing software tools, the company said in its release.
