A 294-unit apartment building with a public plaza has been proposed for the city of Glendale.

The development, called Lucia Gardens by the Cimmarusti Family, has been submitted for 625 N. Maryland Ave. to Glendale’s city planning department.


According to a report by the Real Deal, Adelfia Properties LLC, an entity formed by the Los Angeles-based Cimmarusti family, is behind the 24-story residential tower plan, which will feature cantilevered terraces for the units.


Amenities at the complex would include a gym, swimming pool and landscaped rooftop terraces as well as 373 parking spaces and 129 commercial parking spaces.


The firm plans to keep an existing building, which is currently occupied by International Rescue Committee, and create a 63,800-square-foot public plaza along Brand Boulevard.


Cimmarusti Development, led by restaurant entrepreneurs Larry and Ralph Cimmarusti, owns the Original Roadhouse Grill restaurant chain, which has locations in Long Beach, Whittier and Victorville and four more in Oregon.


The Glendale-based restaurateurs have also developed 10 Tony Roma’s restaurants and more than 60 Burger King properties.


The family run firm also owns retail and office properties, including a six-story, 45,645-squrae-foot concrete building in Glendale on Brand Boulevard that is occupied by Chase Bank; and The Landing at Hawks Prairie, a retail shopping center in Lacey, Washington.
