New Spanish News Stream From Estrella

Estrella Media has expanded its news content beyond its established television and radio platforms and has launched its news channel on all major streaming and online services.

The Burbank Spanish-language broadcaster debuted two weeks ago on Fox Entertainment’s free streaming site Tubi. It will appear soon on the Roku channel and Samsung’s TV Plus, as well as other digital networks.

The move makes it the first Spanish-language media in the U.S. to provide news content in live digital and streaming formats 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Peter Markham, chief executive of Estrella Media, said the partnership with Tubi marks a new chapter in the history of Spanish-language news media.“Estrella News will provide the best and most relevant Spanish-language news content to the U.S. Hispanic audience, ensuring our communities will have easy access to breaking news on any device, 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” Markham said.

Tubi attracted 33 million monthly active users in August, according to an article in Forbes magazine in September. It has more than 23,000 movies and television shows from more than 250 content partners, including all the Hollywood studios, Estrella Media said in a release. The service’s “News on Tubi” launched recently and includes free access to news and information, including from Estrella News.

Estrella News is the first dedicated group of news professionals providing live news to Spanish-language audiences on a round-the-clock multiplatform basis, the company said.

“On the national front, Estrella News will feature a team of dedicated journalists across the U.S. and Latin America, which includes the only network news program in Spanish-language primetime and the first to present the critical issues affecting the community with the latest newsworthy events from the United States, Mexico, Central and South America,” the company said in its release. The network will also offer a live two-hour morning news shows, which will deliver information news presented in an upbeat manner with segments that include breaking news, weather, entertainment, sports and local coverage, Estrella Media added.
