Grossman Burn Foundation Chairwoman Charged With Murder in Fatal Car Crash

Rebecca Grossman, co-founder and chairwoman of Calabasas-based Grossman Burn Foundation, was charged Wednesday with two counts of murder in connection with a fatal crash in Westlake Village in late September.Grossman, 57, was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in the Van Nuys courthouse of L.A. County Superior Court on two felony counts of murder and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. She also faces one felony count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death, according to a release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.The accident occurred about 7:10 p.m. on Sept. 30, according to a report from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. The crash killed two children: brothers Mark Iskander, 11, and Jacob Iskander, 8.Six family members were near the intersection of Triunfo Canyon Road and Saddle Mountain Drive, reports said, but the two boys were too far ahead in the marked intersection to be pulled back to safety.After allegedly striking the children, Grossman allegedly continued driving, eventually stopping about one-quarter mile away from the scene when her car engine cutoff, the district attorney office’s said.Rebecca Grossman is the wife of Dr. Peter Grossman, medical director of Grossman Burn Centers Inc. in West Hills. The foundation she chaired is the philanthropic arm of the burn centers.If convicted as charged, Grossman faces a possible maximum sentence of 34 years to life in state prison, the prosecutor’s office said.
