Tewksbury Takes Helm at Edge Computing Firm

Ted Tewksbury has been appointed the new chief executive of Eta Compute Inc., effective early last month. Tewksbury takes the reins of the Westlake Village technology company with more than 30 years of experience in building and growing technology companies in the semiconductor sector. Eta Compute was founded four years ago and has carved out a space in the machine learning and artificial intelligence sector. Its technology is used in mobile devices and the Internet-of-Things as part of edge computing, or the deployment of data-handling activities at the source of the data capture, such as smartphones, tablets and laptops. The edge computing market is growing rapidly due to data from the Internet-of-Things and the need to make local, real-time decisions in power-constrained environments, Tewksbury said. “Eta Compute’s micropower machine intelligence platform consumes the lowest energy per inference and is ideal for applications where batteries can’t be replaced, recharged or used at all,” he added in a statement. “It is being enthusiastically adopted by customers and partners who are actively working to integrate it into a wide range of products.” Prior to joining Eta, Tewksbury served as chief executive of Entropic Communications, a San Diego company providing integrated circuit technology and advanced platform software products for cable, satellite and broadband infrastructure. He headed the company at the time of its acquisition by MaxLinear Corp. in 2015. He serves on the board of that company.
