Salem Buys ChristianConcertAlerts.com

Salem Media Group in Camarillo has announced the acquisition of ChristianConcertAlerts.com, an internet resource for news and events about Christian music artists. ChristianConcertAlerts.com aggregates tour dates, industry news and album reviews for fans of Christian music. Its key feature is a location-based calendar with concert details for more than 300 artists and 4,000 venues. The site averages roughly 50,000 visitors a month, according to website traffic monitor SimilarWeb Ltd. The website will join the portfolio of Salem’s online division, Salem Web Network. “By leveraging our existing audience and resources, this acquisition will allow for immediate, exponential growth of members and the ability for users to find even more Christian concert events nationwide,” Rick Killingsworth, executive vice president at Salem Web Network, said in a prepared statement. Salem Web claims 110 million content interactions take place monthly across its portfolio of 15 websites, which include Christianity.com and Jesus.org. Salem Media Group, which broadcasts Christian and Conservative-themed programming on its traditional and digital media properties, did not disclose how much it paid for the acquisition. The company has around 1,200 full-time employees and operates 115 local radio stations in markets nationwide. News of the acquisition was released Wednesday. On Thursday, Salem stock fell 5 cents, or less than a percent, to close at $6.40 on the Nasdaq.
