High-definition radios made by DTS Inc. (DTSI) will appear in 17 new car models in 2017, the company announced Wednesday.

The Calabasas audio equipment maker named models from auto brands Acura, Infiniti, Kia, Lincoln, Nissan, Toyota, Volvo and Jaguar as new buyers of its technology.

"We're excited to enable millions of listeners to benefit from a high quality in-vehicle radio experience and help provide some of the same interactive features and digital capabilities they are accustomed to with their mobile devices,” Jeff Jury, DTS’ general manager of HD radio and automotive, said in a statement.

DTS has announced an agreement to be acquired by Tessera Technologies Inc. of San Jose for $850 million. The deal is expected to close close at the end of the year or early next year.

Shares closed down 4 cents or a fraction of a percent to $42.46 on the Nasdaq.
