Salem Launches San Francisco Radio Station

Christian multimedia company Salem Media Group is launching a news talk radio station over the July 4th weekend, which will air throughout the greater San Francisco metro area — including Modesto, Sacramento and San Jose. KTRB-AM, which is a 50,000-watt clear-channel station, will become 860 AM The Answer, the Camarillo company’s 26th station under The Answer brand. Salem, known for its Christian and conservative content, will feature live shows from the company’s radio network on 860 AM, including programs from conservative political commentator Mike Gallagher, Republican lawyer Larry Elder as well as author and film critic Michael Medved. In addition, Salem’s Radio Network obtained exclusive radio rights to four of the 2016 Republican presidential debates. “We are thrilled and excited to enter market number 4 with a station that reaches the entire metro population,” Dave Santrella, president of Salem Media, said in a statement. “Just in time for the run-up to the biggest presidential election of our lifetime, we’re adding the entire lineup of Salem’s outstanding network talk talent.” Salem Media shares closed up 8 cents or 1.2 percent to $6.72 on the Nasdaq.
