Earnings: Capstone, Interlink

Capstone Turbine Corp. received an order this week for a microturbine from a pasta maker in Sicily. The Chatsworth alternative energy manufacturer is expected to have the C1000 microturbine installed and working at the Tomasello pasta factory early next year. The turbine will be used to power and heat the facility and make hot water for pasta production. Tomasello produces up to 5,000 tons of pasta a year. This is the second order for Capstone from Italy this year. In January, the company received orders for C600 microturbines for use in two Italian food manufacturing plants. “Italy represents an excellent growth opportunity for Capstone,” said Jim Crouse, Executive Vice President of Sales and, in a prepared statement. “We are pleased by the ongoing maturation of our distribution network globally.” Shares closed unchanged at 98 cents on the Nasdaq. Interlink Electronics Inc. reported improved results for the third quarter in both net income and revenue. The Camarillo touch sensor firm reported net income of $477,000 (16 cents a share) for the quarter ending Sept. 30, compared with a net loss of $98,000 (-3 cents) in the same period a year earlier. Revenue increased 62 percent to $2.9 million. “These quarterly results validate Interlink Electronics’ commitment to growing and delivering cutting edge (sensor) solutions to the increasingly touch-centric global community,” Chief Executive Steven Bronson said in a prepared statement. Shares were unchanged at $9 in over-the-counter trading.
