Burbank Bob Hope Airport increased security on Friday following a shooting at Los Angeles International Airport that left one victim dead and several injured, including the gunman in critical condition. All vehicles entering the short-term parking structure at the Burbank airport were being searched, said airport spokesman Victor Gill. “We have augmented a police presence in the terminal area,” Gill said. However, there were no reports that flights were being diverted to Bob Hope from LAX, he added. According to media reports, a gunman opened fire with a rifle in a security area in Terminal 3 at LAX at about 10 a.m. hitting multiple people and killing a Transportation Safety Administration agent. City officials were warning travelers with afternoon flights to stay away from the airport.
