Salem Buys Christian News Site

The online division of Salem Communications Corp. announced Wednesday the acquisition of ChristianHeadlines.com. The Camarillo Christian radio broadcaster made the purchase through its Salem Web Network division. ChristianHeadlines.com is a news site focused on news affecting Christian leaders, ministries and organizations. Organized by topics that are important to the Christian faith, ChristianHeadlines.com aggregates the latest news reports and commentary from faith-based websites. “ChristianHeadlines.com is a great addition to our network of sites focused on growing not only the spiritual life of believers but also the awareness and knowledge of how their faith is impacted by current events,” Stephen McGarvey, executive editor for Salem Web Network, said in a statement. Salem Communications owns nearly 100 radio stations in 38 markets. It also owns a syndication network that distributes programs to 2,400 affiliated stations, as well as a book publishing operation. Shares of Salem closed unchanged at $7.92 Wednesday on the Nasdaq.
