BioSolar Picks Manufacturer of Solar Panel Parts

BioSolar Inc. has chosen a Massachusetts company to manufacture components used in solar panels. The Santa Clarita-based company picked Stevens Urethane after reviewing a number of manufacturers and concluded Stevens was the best fit to make the Bio Solar backsheet. “They have state-of-the-art equipment and the know-how to manufacture BioBacksheet to the extremely high standards demanded by our (photovoltaic) customers,” said Stanley Levy, chief technology officer who headed up the selection process. BioSolar’s backsheet is made from natural materials instead of petroleum-based materials and eliminates the use of toxins in the manufacturing and disposal process. Stevens, a subsidiary of JPS Industries, makes polyurethane film, sheet, and tubing used in VIII bullet resistant glazings, airplane and high speed train windshields, and security glass. Mark R.
