Semtech Releases New Products

Semiconductor manufacturer Semtech Corp. has released two new products — a transceiver for smart meters and security systems, and a proximity sensor used in measuring exposure to radiofrequency absorption from cell phones and other mobile devices. Both the SX1232 transceiver and the SX9300 sensor will be the basis for future product lines for the Camarillo-based company. With high performance and low current consumption the SX1232 transceiver continues the company’s track record of being a leader in radio frequency transceivers, said Alain Dantec, senior vice president of wireless and sensing products. “Delivering the longest range and the most robust link performance for the lowest power is the key focus for Semtech’s wireless product line,” Dantec said in a prepared statement. The transceiver can be used in smart metering, security system, remote access, sensor networks, and home/building automation. The SX9300 sensor is used in cell phones, tablet devices, and notebook computers to reduce the amount of radio frequency emissions when it detects the presence of the human body. The sensor maintains wireless connectivity even when reducing the radio frequency emissions, said Marc Pegulu, senior marketing director for wireless and sensing. – Mark R. Madler
