Warner Bros. in Digital Distribution Agreement with Amazon

Viewers in the United Kingdom will be able to watch Warner Bros. Entertainment films through Amazon’s online streaming service following a distribution agreement signed by the two companies. Terms of the deal between Burbank-based Warner Bros. and Amazon were not disclosed. The multi-year agreement will allow consumers in the UK to watch Warner Bros. feature films through Amazon’s LoveFilm digital subscription service; they can download to own or use Amazon’s pay-per-view service. Among the films available immediately are “The Dark Knight,” “The Hangover,” and “Gran Torino.” The deal also continues providing Warner Bros. DVD and Blu-ray discs through LoveFilm’s subscription by mail service. The films are available 60 days after retail release. Establishing a second pay window through digital distribution on LoveFilm is an important evolution in the way films are made available in the United Kingdom, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution President Jeffrey R. Schlesinger said in a statement. “Importantly, the structure of the deal ensures that our films continue to retain their value to linear and non linear operators following this window and for the long term,” Schlesinger added.
