LegalZoom Plans Move to Glendale

Online document company LegalZoom plans to relocate its headquarters from Hollywood to Glendale, brining more than 300 employees to the city’s downtown business district. The company founded by famed attorney Robert Shapiro will lease two floors at the Glendale City Center. The city center is a Class A, 19-story office building on North Brand Boulevard. LegalZoom executives cited the city’s competitive business environment as a major factor in the move. “We considered several options but chose Glendale because it’s centrally located and there is growing vibrancy downtown,” said Fred Krupica, the company’s chief financial officer. Glendale Mayor Ara Najarian said the move will be a boost for local businesses. “LegalZoom has a young, professional labor force that we like to see in our downtown,” he said. “They will be within walking distance to over three million square feet of retail including the Glendale Galleria, the Americana at Brand and stores along mid Brand Boulevard.” The 10-year lease transaction was handled by the owner of Glendale City Center, Legacy Partners, along with Patrick Church and Anneke Greco of CB Richard Eillis. Brokerage firm Jones Lang LaSalle represented LegalZoom. The city is already the home of company headquarters for Nestle USA, DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc., DineEquity Inc., Public Storage, AT&T Interactive and several divisions of the Walt Disney Company.
