Testing Firm Income Inches Up In Q1

Lower than expected performance at two test facilities contributed to a drop in revenues for National Technical Systems Inc. The Calabasas-based provider of engineering and evaluation services experienced delays in receiving test items from defense industry manufacturers for its centers in Kansas and Arkansas. The delay is a temporary situation that will reverse itself during the balance of the year and both facilities will be operating at or near capacity, said company CEO William C. McGinnis. For the quarter ending April 30, the company reported a net income of $728,000, or $0.08 per diluted share, on revenues of $31.7 million. For the same period in 2007, the company had net income of $591,000, or $0.06 per diluted share, on revenues of $29.8 million.
