Wright Acquired By Bayless, Moving to Santa Clarita

Bayless Engineering & Manufacturing of Santa Clarita has acquired Wright Engineering of Canoga Park. President Earl Bayless, who founded the company, said Wright’s operations will be moved to Santa Clarita although it will operate in a separate building and retain the Wright name. Specific terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Bayless also owns Powder Coating Plus and DoorGate Industries. All of Wright’s 18 employees will be retained, Bayless said, including Wright Engineering owners, Lou Vickovic and Randy Wright. “Acquisitions are a better way to increase personnel,” Bayless said. Although both companies are part of the same business, Vickovic explained that they are on different ends of the manufacturing spectrum. Bayless Engineering specializes in manufacturing sheet metal while Wright Engineering specializes in machining. “They will now have access to our high-precision machining,” he said. Wright will move to a more modern 30,000-square-foot facility that is nearly double the size of its existing plant and will put it in closer proximity to its major customers. In regards to how Wright Engineering will add to Bayless Engineering, Vickovic is confident in each company’s success. “We’ll make them superstars,” he said. Bayless, who started his engineering business in 1978, said this acquisition was a way for him to better himself in the machining business. There will be certain activities that will encompass both companies as well as Powder Coating Plus, according to Bayless.
